This is a true story, telling one of the most dramatic power transfer events in the past 2000 years. Bishop Berglio (played by Jonathan Presley) is very disappointed with the development direction of the church, so he applies to Pope Benedict (played by Anthony Hopkins) for retirement in 2012. However, in the face of scandal and self doubt, the introspective Pope Benedict summoned his most severe critic and future successor to Rome. Within the walls of the Vatican, a struggle was launched between tradition and progress, sin and forgiveness. These two very different people faced their own past directly in order to find common ground and create a future for one billion believers around the world
