The film tells the story of Ge Zui Beizhai, a Ukiyoshi painter in the Edo era. It will mainly focus on Beizhai in his youth and the famous publisher, Tsutaro Niawu (the name of the famous bookstore Tsutaya comes from his surname), Beizhai in his old age and his partner, Liu Ting Chongyan. Liu Leyoumi plays Beizhai in his youth, Tanaka Minh plays Beizhai in his old age, Abe Kuan plays publisher Niaowu Chongsanlang, Ying Tai plays playwright Liu Ting Chongyan, and Yu Muhong plays Ukiyoshi painter Xiduo Kawakami who is good at drawing beautiful people
