Sweet Country took place in 1929 in the inland area of Alice Spring in Northern Territory of Australia. Sam, an experienced native herdsman, is the owner of Harry, a white veteran who retired from World War I. Harry was violent and abused the workers. Sam finally shot him in self-defence.
